Another day, another server, another house by CrazyRonn Another day, another server, another house by CrazyRonn
A few days ago a friend introduced me to a new minecraft SMP server. given i hadnt played minecraft in what seemed like an eternity, i decided to hop on, even though my primary MC computer has been disabled for a while and collecting dust. i kick-started my netbook, and played away. i started building multiple projects, and decided to build my friend a house. the design is a nod to my older designs, and we are both happy about the results. i hope you are too :D

more pictures of my ongoing projects on this server in the future ;D

TL;DR
A modern house on an SMP server i built

i appreciate smaller houses more. Good to see how much detail can be crammed in there :)

it's amazing what you can do with a confined space if you just think about it right. Though for my own home i prefer a smaller footprint haha

TL,DR ? lol you should read some of the comments i make ^.^ but i digress nice looking house i think (and i could be wrong) but i think i see and alch chest in the back room there so im guessing its a tekkit server XD.

ive given up on smp to be honest i could never find one to mach the old servers i use to play on. each time i find a server that i thinks kinda nice a week later they are gone like sand on the wind...

its the newly implemented ender chest :D (if youre not caught up with the snapshots) this used to be a tekkit server though.
yeah this server admin is really chill here, easy to work with and reasonable. makes for a good building environment :P

ive recently stoped using Tekkit and whent back to Technic to play with some of the more...picky mods. trying my best to learn thaumcraft and put that knowledge to good use. though from wht ive experimented with theres not a lot of utility in thaumcraft. the enderchest have potential in that they can be made nearly infinite and linked to any place. having a few new resources to farm is also fun for me (vis crystals mostly) other than that utility is at a low for me. and ive run out of ideas for new builds.

sounds like normal fare to me (running out of ideas), which is why i usually end up binging on minecraft for a few weeks, then spend another few weeks not playing it, only to pick up again with a myriad of more ideas. sometimes too much of a good thing isnt a good thing lol

true enough XD. though i think my main block is that i cant find a good server to play on and single-player feels...lonesome to me XS.

so true so true. many times ive built small towns, cities, many types of infrastructure in SSP that nobody would ever see outside of me and a few friends... then i realized i can do that kind of stuff on servers and have people use them - for once >.<

exactly lol. the best times ive had on MC since joining it so long ago was building things that people were having trouble setting up. oh well the search continues.

Definitely not bad. A bit small, but not bad nonetheless. Under most circumstances, I would say that your walls are pretty flat; but it seems as though this is so small that it would be hard to add depth at all. Interesting build, and +1 for Painterly.

i appreciate the input, it is undoubtedly small compared to my first attempt at making these style of homes, although my goal was to minimize on unneeded open space. after playing minecraft and building homes and bases since alpha, ive learned that a super fortress or a large castle isnt always required, and i usually strive for something practical, minimalistic, yet decently pleasing to the eye. be it very wrong of me to argue your comment otherwise as everybody has different tastes. i (and in the case of this house, my friend) just have a propensity to making compact houses. and for the flat walls, the style i was attempting called for flat walls and a staggered flat roof, to break away from the typical "plain box" motif that alot of minecrafters create upon first starting their homes. i have other homes that follow this style in my gallery, although except for one or two, are pretty much as small (smaller in some cases) as this. elegance in simplicity i always say :D

No, no. I enjoy small houses, and compact design. Simplicity is great. I'm just saying that had you decided to go for more rooms (realistic ones, such as a bathroom, dining room, master bedroom and guest bedroom, etc.), then you could have made it bigger, and had more opportunity to design and detail your walls.

agreed in full :D

my earlier design featured a living room with fire place, a kitchen, a bedroom, and was reasonably sized. to include the whole package in this style would be an amazing home

Oh yeah. I challenge you to do it!

I actually do my own Modernist style that I'm calling cuboid. The idea is that you take a whole bunch of basic boxes, squares, and rectangles, and combine them in such a way that you end up with complex shapes and designs.
