=== SHORT STORY ===
my personal twist to the FlashShelter Mod
=== LONG STORY ===
last week i was wandering the minecraft forums and stumbled upon the FlashShelter Mod.
from what ive got, its a mod that allows you to quickly construct an interim home-worthy building without having to venture out too far and risk life and limb (for them badasses that dont play on peaceful). but of course you need to craft all the necessary parts for your insta-shelter, or a savvy single player command.
the default choices are a standard home with the basics (working bed & door, plus workbench, furnace, and chest) or a deluxe home which has all the basics and a cake! im serious! no it is not a lie. a decent example of this mod in use is, who woulda guessed it, youtube!
anyways, a recent update for the mod included a very simplistic editor which allowed users to create their own shelters, although within frustrating constraints - especially in my case. although you can use virtually any material in the minecraft universe to construct your dream home, you were constrained to a 7x7x7 cube, no more, no less - and you had to use all of it or risk some dead space. why is this relevant you ask? i looked at the default home designs and was disappointed, because it was not my particular taste in design. i wanted to take my Highland Homes
with me wherever i went, but a 7x7x7 cube had its limitations. then i thought, what a fun challenge to tackle! so after going through numerous ideas and layouts, i finally settled on something that appeased my needs, and thats whats posted here. i put the chest in the floor and the workbench in the wall to capitalize on floor space, and the glowstone makes for better lighting (in my opinion) than a torch.
this is my attempt at a portable modern home. i hope you guys like it
